Crash Ejects Three Daughters From Vehicle

Three girls were injured in an accident in Colorado Springs, Colorado last week when they were thrown from a car their father was driving. Michael Bobain, 35, was driving on Lake Avenue with his two daughters and stepdaughter, ages 11, 15 and 16 in a two-door Honda Civic, when he allegedly ran a stop sign. This took him into the path of a Toyota Camry, which broadsided him, throwing the three girls from the vehicle. According to police, the 16-year-old girl was trapped beneath the car, suffering severe burns from the heat of the engine. The 15-year-old suffered serious injuries and the 11-year-old was treated and released. Police issued Bobain a summons for careless driving involving an injury. Young Driver Faces Charges Over Deadly Accident

A 17-year-old driver is facing charges of vehicular homicide and reckless driving for an October 20 accident south of Glenwood Springs, Colorado that resulted in the death of a fellow Colorado Mountain College student. The young man was driving just before midnight on County Road 114 along with three passengers, CMC students Steph Zgorzynski, 18, or Aurora, Calla Fisher, 19, of Sedona, Ariz., and Juan Chaves-Kryks, 18, of Loveland. The vehicle went off a sharp curve in the road and rolled several times, killing Zgorzynski and seriously injuring the remaining occupants. All were taken to Valley View Hospital after the crash, where the young woman was pronounced dead. Van Rolls With Eight Passengers, Killing Two

A crash on a Nebraska interstate this month left three people dead and five hurt after a van they were riding in rolled. The crash happened on Interstate 80 in central Nebraska, when the tread on a rear tire of the van separated, according to the Nebraska State Patrol. The tread separation caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle, with the van heading into the median and rolling multiple times. Eight passengers were in the van, including a baby. Six of them, all women, were thrown from the vehicle. Claudia J. Cerda-Hernandez, 25, of Albuquerque, N.M. and Romelia Pacheco, 32, of Denver were pronounced dead at the scene. According to authorities, a third woman, Viridiana Becomo, 23, of Denver, died later at the hospital.
